Meet the key members of our Swift Fire Compliance Team below.
Swift Fire Compliance is part of Swiftclean (UK) Ltd, a trusted compliance specialist with over 40 years of experience helping organisations create safer, healthier and more compliant buildings.
Launched in September 2025, Swift Fire Compliance was created to provide a dedicated focus on two critical areas of fire safety: fire damper testing and remedial works, and kitchen extract fire safety cleaning. Delivered by appropriately trained, competent technicians, our services help customers manage risk, meet legal obligations and protect building occupants.
Backed by the expertise, innovation and customer-first approach that have defined Swiftclean since 1982, we combine specialist knowledge with nationwide coverage to deliver reliable fire compliance solutions across a wide range of sectors.

Meet the Key Team Members
Gary Nicholls
Founder and Managing Director
Gary founded Swiftclean in 1982 and has guided the company through numerous changes and periods of growth during its 44-year history. He is widely recognized as an authority in the field of ventilation hygiene. For many years, Gary has participated as a member of the BESA steering group, contributing to the co-authorship of TR19®, TR19® Grease, and TR19® Air, as well as their predecessors.
Matthew Saunders
Director of Sales
Matthew has been at Swiftclean since 2013, and has had a successful career as a technical sales consultant before moving through the ranks to Director of Sales in 2025; he is responsible for supporting, leading, and training the technical sales team who sell the ventilation services.
Richard Crews
Compliance Training Manager
Richard is our lead trainer within the Swiftclean Academy, and has helped to spearhead our Fire Damper Courses, having worked closely with BESA to develop both fire damper courses and the BESA accredited TR19 Air course. His role encompasses auditing, training, development, and delivery of services within the office environment as well as on-site with clients.

ISO 9001 is an internationally recognised quality standard with which Swiftclean has been registered following independent auditing by a UKAS accredited auditing body (Auva). This gives the assurance that services are delivered within a framework of consistent quality.
ISO14001
ISO 14001 is an internationally recognised environmental standard with which Swiftclean has been registered following independent auditing by a UKAS accredited auditing body (Auva). It gives the assurance that Swiftclean delivers services with due regard to limiting their impact on the environment.
ISO45001
ISO45001 is an internationally recognised occupational health and safety management standard with which Swiftclean has been registered following independent auditing by an auditing body (Auva). It gives the assurance that Swiftclean delivers services within a safe management framework.
Achilles
Swiftclean has accreditation through Achilles which helps organisations identify, assess, qualify and monitor suppliers throughout the supply chain.
FacilitiesLine Gold
Swiftclean has achieved FacilitiesLine Gold which we use to demonstrate our Health and Safety competence to clients. This is a nationally recognised Health and Safety certificate from an SSIP Member Scheme.
BESA
BESA members are required to demonstrate the competence of their business through an independent inspection and assessment against clearly defined technical and non technical standards. Swiftclean, a member since 1996, has been active within the Ventilation Hygiene Group Branch, assisting in the development, editing and updating of TR/17 and subsequently TR19® Air & TR19® Grease, the UK’s recognised industry benchmark for ventilation system cleanliness.
BESA Vent Hygiene Register Member
Swiftclean has met the requirements of the BESA Vent Hygiene
Register, TR19® Specification, Guide to Good Practice and with all current legislation to
ensure vent hygiene standards are achieved.
Safe Contractor
Certificate status is in recognition of reaching the SAFE contractor health & safety standards in accordance with Ability to Sub-Contract works, Deep Cleaning, Internal Air Quality Testing, Kitchen Equipment Cleaning, Water Quality Testing, Water Treatment, Kitchen Extract Cleaning and Ventilation System Cleaning.
CHAS
Swiftclean is accredited with the Contractors’ Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS) having demonstrated compliance with, and sound management of, current basic Health & Safety legislation.
Constructionline Gold
This certifies that Swiftclean has met pre-qualification requirements appropriate to public and private sector procurement. Approved work categories are; Heating & Ventilation, Potable Water & Waste Treatment, Tanks & Associated Services.
LCA
The Importance of competence to Legionella Control Association Standards
Legislative requirements for the control of Legionellosis put the responsibility for compliance clearly with the owner/operator of water systems. Under the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations as regards risks from legionellosis, all owners and operators of buildings have a responsibility to ensure that the risk is controlled and kept to an acceptable level. The HSC’s Approved Code of Practice and Guidance (L8) stresses that whilst the tasks required to be undertaken to control the risk may be contracted to an external specialist, the owner/operator must take all reasonable care to ensure the competence of the service provider to carry out the work on his behalf.
To be registered with the Legionella Control Association LCA), member companies have every year to demonstrate their competence by submitting a statement of compliance which describes how they meet the Conditions of the LCA Code of Conduct for Service Providers. The service standards of the LCA are progressive therefore registered companies are expected to continually improve on their management systems in the provision of Legionella control services.
